Boss Door

“Like the moon over
The day, my genius and brawn
Are lost on these fools.”
-Haiku by Bowser, King of the Koopas.

Much like Gary’s office, there are going to be some big changes to the Shot Glasses website in the upcoming weeks. Starting Monday. Stay tuned.

By the way, this is our first Cheap Shot, which is just a Short and Sweet comic. Keep an eye out for these from time to time, you never know when we may post one.

The Last Err Bender

Okay, this is the last comic we’ll do about The Last Airbender. We promise!

Well… Last one until we think of something else.

News has it that M. Night has already planned out the second and third movies. Has he read any of the reviews for this one yet?

If they green light a sequel, hopefully he would’ve learned from his mistakes. Assuming, of course, that he realizes that he made mistakes to begin with.

Put Your Movie Where Your Mouth Is

Rob’s just trying to get out of his end of the bet. He doesn’t really think it was a good movie. No one does.

“The laws of chance suggest that something should have gone right. Not here.”
-Roger Ebert

The Last Airbender is so bad, it borders on vindictive. I honestly believe that Avatar: The Last Airbender angered M. Night somehow (maybe one of his kids said it was better than Lady in the Water?) and he made this movie solely to get his revenge by maliciously ripping all of the humor and character and suspense and tension and romance and drama and epic action out of the franchise, leaving it a soulless shell of its former self. In 3D.

At least, I hope that’s the reason behind this. I’d hate to think something like this was created with good intentions.

The Least Airbender

To Be Continued…

I’d like to think that the questionable casting and the director’s ignorance regarding the source material will not effect the outcome of this movie. I hope that the strength of the original work will shine through no matter what. I doubt it will be as good as the cartoon, but it can still great in its own way.

I’m looking forward to seeing who is right. Stay tuned for the results.

Tecmo-babble

Clearly, Shot Glasses is not a Sports Bar.

On an unrelated note, cheer up Boston fans. You’ve still got The Departed.
And no one can take that away from you.

Keep an eye out this coming Monday for our new layout.

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword

Just watched the trailer for the new Legend of Zelda game for Wii. Mixed feelings.

Don’t get me wrong, I am always happy to see a new Zelda game. My mixed feelings stem from the beginning bit of the trailer where they run through the last four gimmicks/innovations for console Zelda games. It makes me wonder what message are they trying to send. Aside from a control scheme deeply rooted in motion controls, I didn’t notice any new “game changer.” When I heard the title “Skyward Sword” I half expected some magical steam punk airplane. Or perhaps a Pegasus. But I got nothing.

So.. did the beginning mean that are they leaving the game changing gimmick behind? Or are they saving its reveal for later? They’ve never been coy about them before. Why start now? Or was that beginning part meant to symbolize the evolution of the gimmick? Instead of changing the way you play with in-game transformations or new modes of transportation, Nintendo is changing how you play by.. changing how you play with the motion controls.

Of course, it’s possible I’m looking way too much into this. For those who haven’t seen it, they can find it here or here for the longer version.
